Maniabandha is a area Under athagarh Sub–Division District Cuttack, Odisha. It is Situated 100 K.m far from Capital Bhubaneswar and also 120 K.m far from District Head Quarters Cuttack. One Side of Maniabandha is painted by the Perennial giant of River Mahanadi, where are the other side is escorted dense forest area with many mountains calls SataKosia wild like sanctuary.

This place is connecting two districts like Nayagarh and Anugul to its own Cuttack Districts. Ones such Craft is the Handwoven “Maniabandha also Known as Khandua Saree” painstakingly woven by the handloom weavers of maniabandha in cuttack district of the state odisha. The khandua saree are woven with Malbari Silk Yarn and sometime is combination with cotton and tussar Yarn. The fabric is also woven with Calligraphy Designs taken for the famous Epic “Gita Govinda” Written by famous Poet Jayadeva.

These “Khanduas” with Calligraphy designs are reverentially offered Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Sister Subhadra at Puri Jagannath Temple as a ritual by the devotees. “Khanduas” is very Unique not only in construction but also for its colours, Motifs and layout woven with local soul and universal appeal.

The area of production consists of four Blocks of the Districts Namely Badamba, Tigiria, Banki and Athagarh. However, the main area of production is Maniabandha under Badamba block and two villages and their adjoining areas. It have a long historical background of weaving typical ikat, tie-dyed cotton and silk fabrics spanning over a few centuries. The fabric mainly sarees, have been not only functional but also ritualistic and artistically woven by the handloom weavers with a visual display of excellence in a craftsman ship and skill brought down from the generations as like any other Indian hand woven Textiles.
